Aird & Berlis Lawyers Author Book on Expropriation Law in Ontario

The law governing expropriations in Ontario can be challenging to navigate. This led Aird & Berlis lawyers Christopher Williams, Andrea Skinner and Matthew Helfand to author Expropriation Law in Ontario, published on May 13, 2021, by LexisNexis.

The book provides a comprehensive overview of the structure and application of the province’s Expropriations Act as well as a review of relevant case law. It offers insight on the rights and duties of expropriating authorities and private landowners and addresses key questions like “who can expropriate?” and who is subject to expropriation?”. Easy-to-reference charts clearly set out the expropriation process and associated timelines. In addition, this publication incorporates the full text of the Ontario Expropriations Act and the federal Expropriation Act, as well as the relevant regulations.

Expropriation Law in Ontario is a practical resource for all parties involved in expropriation matters, including public authorities, landowners and legal practitioners.
