National Indigenous Peoples Day, officially held on Sunday, June 21 this year, is a day to celebrate the rich heritage of Indigenous Peoples across Canada. The day recognizes the outstanding contributions of Indigenous, Inuit and Métis People.  In honour of this day, we are delighted to host an online interview with Chief Jessica Hill of the Oneida Nation of the Thames. This program will impart broader cultural awareness through the eyes of an Indigenous leader.

Chief Hill will share aspects of her personal journey to becoming an elected Chief of her community and highlight some key challenges facing Indigenous people today. She will also provide insight on economic development, governance and business considerations related to doing business with Indigenous people across a variety of industry sectors.

Chief Hill will be interviewed by Kimberly Thomas, citizen of the Seneca Nation, Bear Clan and Affiliated Independent Counsel to Aird & Berlis. Kimberly will provide additional commentary identifying some of the challenges and opportunities for lawyers working with Indigenous clients in Canada.
