Barbara is the Former Chair of the Canadian Tax Foundation and Past Chair of the Executive Committee. Her practice is focused on income tax with an emphasis on corporate and partnership taxation, particularly in an international and cross-border context. She has expertise in structuring cross-border mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations. Barbara's practice includes advising on structures for real estate investments and divestitures, derivative transactions, REITs and syndications. She also has experience dealing with the resolution of tax disputes.

Barbara is recognized as a leading tax advisor in Chambers Global and Chambers Canada, Legal 500, Best Lawyers in Canada, Who’s Who, Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and Martindale-Hubbell. She is a frequent speaker and presenter.

Representative Matters

Acted for Knightstone Capital Management in the sale of a 20 per cent equity share in the CampusOne residence in Toronto, Ontario.

Represented Melchior Management 777 Corporation, a property management service company, with the formation of M Commercial REIT, a new private commercial real estate investment trust, and the related vend-in of a portfolio of commercial properties located in Barrie, Ontario.

Represented Circle Surrogacy, LLC, an investee company of Cortec Group Fund VII, L.P., a private equity fund based in New York, in the Canadian aspects of its acquisition of Donor Concierge Inc.
