The second wave of cannabis products, including edibles, beverages, lotions and concentrates, are available for legal sale in Ontario. These new products signify growth opportunities for licensed producers, retailers and other industry stakeholders. Cannabis 2.0 includes three new classifications of consumer products: edibles, topicals & extracts. To access the new market, licensed producers and distributors are required to adhere to strict government regulations.

In this highly-regulated new market, how can participants legally build their brands through marketing and advertising? How can proprietary cannabis-related products be protected? How might the enhanced Canadian market generate business opportunities in other jurisdictions, including the United States?

Join Aird & Berlis partners Jeremy Burke and Ken Clark, along with Aird & McBurney patent agent Erica Lowthers as they discuss the regulations of Cannabis 2.0 and provide insight on how to bring new cannabis products to market legally and effectively.

Topics include:

  • Overview of edibles, topicals & extracts
  • Amendments and regulations under the Cannabis Act
  • Structuring of licensing and branding requirements for products
  • Assessment of the marketplace
  • Patentability and infringement of cannabis-related products
