Canada Men’s National Soccer Team Players Association Ratifies Collective Bargaining Agreement
On March 31, 2026, Canada Soccer announced the formal ratification of its first collective bargaining agreement with the Canada Men’s National Soccer Team Players Association.
Key provisions include base compensation, performance-based bonuses and name, image and likeness (NIL) rights, while also setting standards for travel, accommodations and enhanced parental benefits. The agreement establishes a framework for enhanced compensation based on revenue generated from player advancement in the FIFA World Cup, as well as a commercial revenue share arrangement across various categories.
The deal also governs the relationship between Canada Soccer and the Women’s National Team Players Association and ensures that compensation is distributed equally between the men’s and women’s teams.
While negotiations spanned several years, certain principal terms have been in place since June 1, 2024. The agreement remains effective through December 31, 2027. Stronger alignment between the organization and its players is expected to contribute to long term stability and development across the sport, benefiting all participants.
