Adam West Appointed Commanding Officer of The Royal Regiment of Canada

Adam West, an Associate in the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group, has assumed command of The Royal Regiment of Canada, an army reserve infantry unit in Toronto. In conjunction with his appointment as Commanding Officer, he was also promoted to the rank of lieutenant-colonel. In his new role, Adam will serve as the chief executive of a multidisciplinary unit of approximately 250 full- and part-time army personnel. He is responsible for strategic planning and direction, career management, community outreach and, most importantly, overseeing training to ensure members of the unit are prepared for domestic and international operations.

Adam joined The Royal Regiment of Canada at age 18, while still in high school. During his military career, he has held several leadership and administrative positions, including Platoon Commander during a combat deployment to Kandahar, Afghanistan; Second-in-Command of a parachute infantry company; and Commander of a Light Armoured Vehicle company. Adam has spent approximately 50 per cent of his 23-year military career on full-time service, including nine years in the regular force as a member of Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry.

Adam will balance this new role with his growing litigation practice and raising his two young daughters alongside his incredibly understanding and supportive wife, Rachel.
