Introducing A&B's New Intellectual Property Team Members
Aird & Berlis LLP is pleased to introduce the newest members of our expanded intellectual property practice.
Tim Lowman and Paula Bremner join fellow IP lawyers Grant Cansfield and Ken Clark as members of the firm's Intellectual Property Group.
Tim Lowman (JD, FCIArb, CLP) has more than 35 years of experience as counsel in a broad range of commercial and intellectual property litigation. He is a Certified Specialist in civil litigation as well as a registered Canadian trademark agent, a Certified Arbitrator and a Certified Licensing Professional.
Paula Bremner (LLM, Intellectual Property) specializes in pharmaceutical patent litigation and trademark opposition matters. In addition to being a lawyer, Paula is a registered Canadian patent and trademark agent.
Five registered patent agents have also joined the firm’s newly-founded patent agency practice.
Lola A. Bartoszewicz (PhD, Clinical Biochemistry) specializes in patent preparation and prosecution, strategic portfolio management, patentability and freedom-to-operate searching and analysis, opinions and due diligence reviews in medical and agricultural biotechnologies, diagnostic, pharmaceutical, chemical and medical device fields. Lola also specializes in industrial design protection.
Kimberly A. McManus (PhD, Chemistry) specializes in patent protection and enforcement issues for the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. She has extensive experience with patent drafting and prosecution, patentability and freedom-to-operate analysis, due diligence reviews and patent portfolio management. Kimberly also specializes in industrial design protection.
Kitt Sinden (MSc, Pharmacology) specializes in drafting and prosecuting patent and design applications worldwide, providing intellectual property opinions and conducting intellectual property due diligence in the areas of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, chemistry and medical devices. He also has extensive experience advising and assisting counsel in pharmaceutical patent litigation.
Erica L. Lowthers (PhD, Pharmacology) focuses on drafting and prosecuting Canadian and U.S. patents. She has strong scientific experience in the fields of in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, oncology, cellular biology and biochemistry.
SuMei Cheung (P.Eng.) has a range of patent experience, including applications for wireless communications, biomedical devices, scientific instrumentation, e-commerce software and consumer products.
