Aird & Berlis Welcomes Nine New Partners
Aird & Berlis is pleased to announce that Stephanie D'Amico, Jasmine Fraser, Matilda Lici, Codie Mitchell, John George Pappas, Pia-Lauren Reece, Kanika Sharma, Justin Song and Lynn Tay have become partners of the firm.
Stephanie D'Amico is a member of the firm’s Tax Group. She has expertise in corporate and personal income tax, GST/HST and land transfer tax. She has also supported high-net-worth individuals, owner-managed businesses and corporations through Tax Court of Canada appeals, judicial review applications and provincial tax disputes.
Jasmine Fraser is a member of the firm’s Municipal & Land Use Planning Group. She advises on all aspects of the Ontario Planning Act and is involved in every stage of the land development process. She regularly appears before the Ontario Land Tribunal and represents public- and private-sector clients, including homeowners, developers and municipalities.
Matilda Lici is a member of the firm’s Financial Services Group. Her insolvency law practice focuses on corporate-commercial litigation, primarily under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act. She acts on behalf of banks, asset-based lenders, creditors and various court-appointed officers.
Codie Mitchell is a member of the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group. He uses critical thinking and a strong understanding of the importance of language to resolve his client’s disputes. He maintains a general litigation practice and advises on contractual interpretation and administrative law, as well as constitutional law and civil liberties.
John George Pappas is a member of the firm's Municipal & Land Use Planning Group. He practises in all areas of local government and municipal law, as well as development law. He advises municipalities across Ontario on various matters, including municipal powers and jurisdictional issues, ethics and governance, building regulation, by-law drafting and enforcement, and complex commercial/contractual issues.
Pia-Lauren Reece is a member of the firm's Intellectual Property Group. She is a registered patent agent in Canada and the U.S., with experience in patent application filing, drafting, prosecution and opinion work. She leverages her scientific credentials to understand the technological underpinnings of an invention and how they may evolve in the future.
Kanika Sharma is a member of the firm’s Financial Services Group. Her practice focuses on transactional matters, including financing transactions involving real property security and other real estate elements. She also advises lenders on asset-based lending, project and acquisition financing, and other secured lending matters.
Justin Song is a member of the firm's Tax Group. He works on domestic and international tax matters for multinational corporations, family businesses and ultra-high-net-worth clients. He also advises on executive compensation structures and creates tax strategies for mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions and corporate reorganizations.
Lynn Tay is a member of the firm's Corporate/Commercial Group. She advises clients on general day-to-day corporate and commercial matters and transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and corporate financings for private companies.
