Indie Alehouse Brewing Co. Seeks Creditor Protection
On July 7, 2025, Bucephalas Stables Corp., operating as Indie Alehouse Brewing Co., filed a Notice of Intention to Make a Proposal under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act. The company reported about $6.8 million in debt, with significant amounts owing to the Business Development Bank of Canada and the Bank of Montreal. Fuller Landau was appointed as proposal trustee.
Indie Alehouse produces craft beer from its Niagara Falls facility for distribution to more than 150 retail outlets, restaurants and bars across Ontario. It also runs a brewpub and a restaurant inside Toronto’s Eataly. The company’s financial difficulties trace back to the collapse of a key supplier in 2018, compounded by pandemic disruptions and the servicing of its secured loans.
Aird & Berlis is acting for the proposal trustee with a team of Steven Graff, Shaun Parsons and Cristian Delfino (Financial Services).
