Aird & Berlis Welcomes New Partners Aaron Kempf and Peter Eirikson

Aaron advises on real estate and leasing transactions, translating legal issues into clear, business-focused strategies. He works closely with clients to identify risks early, negotiate lease terms to minimize disruption and resolve issues to keep deals moving forward.

Aaron's practice focuses on structuring commercial leasing transactions from initial deal terms through execution. He advises a broad range of clients, representing both landlords and tenants across major asset classes, including retail, office and industrial properties. His work includes developing lease strategies, drafting agreements and actively managing timelines to maintain momentum through closing. Aaron remains engaged throughout the life of a lease, providing practical guidance on key provisions, day-to-day operational issues and solutions that mitigate risk and support broader business objectives.

Peter is a highly experienced financial and corporate lawyer, committed to advancing economic reconciliation by working with Indigenous clients on their business and development priorities. He advises on transaction-driven matters, helping structure economic development groups, partnerships and financings.

Peter advises First Nation governments and Indigenous organizations on corporate and commercial matters that support Indigenous economic development, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate structuring, partnership and joint venture arrangements, financing and negotiation, and project development. His practice also spans lending matters, mergers and acquisitions and corporate and commercial matters for non-Indigenous clients. Peter draws from his experience acting for domestic and international financial institutions and companies across a broad range of industries, including natural resources, energy, mining, real estate, manufacturing, agriculture, financial services and technology.
