Aird & Berlis partners Neil Bass, Steven Graff, Trent Horne and Steve Tenai are among the leading lawyers named in the Lexpert Special Edition: Litigation 2020.

Neil Bass is a member of the firm’s Tax Controversy/Tax Litigation Group. He is a highly experienced practitioner in tax litigation and commodity taxation, including goods and services tax and harmonized sales tax (GST/HST), provincial sales tax (PST) and international customs duties. Neil has extensive experience in dealing with various taxation authorities and has represented clients before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal as well as before provincial courts.

Steven Graff is Co-Practice Group Leader of the firm's Financial Services Group and a member of the firm's Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group and Corporate/Commercial Group. His practice focuses on restructuring and insolvency, lending and corporate acquisitions and divestitures, often in the context of distress. He also advises on a wide range of financing transactions. In addition, Steve manages a commercial litigation practice.

Trent Horne is a member of the firm's Intellectual Property and Litigation & Dispute Resolution Groups. He has been guiding clients to successful resolution of intellectual property disputes for over 20 years. Trent has appeared as lead counsel in a wide range of intellectual property matters at the tribunal, trial and appellate level. He is a contributing author to two publications on Federal Court practice and procedure (Federal Courts of Canada Service and Canadian Federal Courts Practice) and is a regular contributor to the Supreme Court Law Review.

Steve Tenai is a member of the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group. He is a skilled advocate with more than 25 years’ experience. His practice focuses on class action, securities, M&A, corporate, commercial, oppression and privacy related litigation. Steve has defended over a dozen securities and consumer related class actions. He has represented individual and corporate clients before all levels of trial and appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and before various regulatory bodies, including the Ontario Securities Commission.
