John Mascarin Honoured with Bruce A. Noble Distinguished Canadian Municipal Lawyer Award
Aird & Berlis is pleased to announce that John Mascarin
is this year’s recipient of the Bruce A. Noble Distinguished Canadian Municipal
Lawyer Award.
The award is presented by the International Municipal Lawyers
Association (IMLA) to a Canadian member of IMLA who has demonstrated excellence
in the profession. The Bruce A. Noble Distinguished Canadian Municipal Lawyer Award
is named in honour of IMLA’s first Canadian President, whose outstanding
achievements on behalf of IMLA and many other legal associations were only
matched by his passion for the practice of law and knowledge of municipal law
practice.
John is a member of the firm’s Municipal and Land Use
Planning Group. He is widely regarded as a leader in municipal, planning and
local government law and is the lead for the firm’s municipal accountability
team, representing dozens of municipalities and advising many accountability
officers across all of Ontario. He previously received an IMLA President’s
Award for Most Outstanding Association Member in 2011, which is given to a
private sector lawyer practising local government law – the first Canadian
lawyer to be so honoured.
IMLA is a non-profit, professional organization that has been
an advocate and resource for local government attorneys in the United States
and Canada since 1935.
Congratulations, John, on this well-deserved recognition!
