Aird & Berlis Lawyers Named in Lexpert Special Edition: Energy 2026

The following lawyers are featured as leading lawyers in the energy sector.

Ron Clark is Co-Leader of the firm’s Energy Group. His practice involves counselling stakeholder groups, retailers, distributors and generators on legislative and policy matters relating to electricity markets. Ron has been retained in connection with power procurement arrangements, development of generation and cogeneration facilities and the Ontario government's clean energy supply, and renewable energy supply RFPs and contracts. 

Jason Madden is a seasoned negotiator and litigator who practises exclusively in the area of Aboriginal law. He advises and represents Indigenous clients on Aboriginal and Treaty rights matters, including the development, advancement and implementation of negotiation and litigation strategies for the recognition of Indigenous rights, as well as the resolution of historical land-related grievances and claims against the Crown. 

Kristi Ross is Co-Leader of the firm's Environmental Law and ESG & Sustainability Groups. Her work includes providing environmental advice in relation to infrastructure projects, social governance initiatives, environmental remediation and regulation, hydroelectric generation, renewable energy projects, climate change and recycling requirements. 

Scott Smith is a highly skilled negotiator and litigator who works at the confluence of Aboriginal, environmental, energy and natural resource law. He regularly advises First Nations on all phases of major projects, including navigating complex regulatory hearings and litigation for significant energy and natural resource projects across Canada. 

David Stevens is Co-Leader of the firm’s Energy Group. He practises in the area of regulatory and commercial litigation, and has deep knowledge about energy regulation in Ontario. David has advised gas and electric utilities, and other participants in Ontario’s electricity market, on a wide range of regulatory and commercial issues, and regularly appears before the Ontario Energy Board.
