Mediclean Inc. was recently successful in winning an appeal in the Tax Court of Canada. Mediclean Inc. had appealed decisions dated March 21, 2016 under the Canada Pension Plan and the Employment Insurance Act that had held that an individual contractor was engaged in pensionable and insurable employment.

The Honourable B. Neal, Deputy Judge, allowed the appeal and found that the individual contractor was not engaged in pensionable or insurable employment. Louise Summerhill, Co-Chair of Aird & Berlis LLP’s Tax Litigation Group, and Monica Carinci won the appeal in the Tax Court of Canada on behalf of Mediclean.
