Stacey supports clients through complex estates and trusts litigation. She is a persuasive advocate who is attuned to the personal dimension in each situation. Clients appreciate Stacey’s ability to provide practical and creative solutions in a cost-effective manner.

Stacey is a member of the firm’s Tax Group and Estates & Trusts Group. She represents individuals and their families, trust companies, fiduciaries, and beneficiaries with a range of court proceedings including will challenges, dependant support claims, contested passing of accounts applications, guardianship proceedings, power of attorney and capacity disputes and trust proceedings. Stacey has represented clients at various levels of court in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal.

In addition to her litigation practice, Stacey supports clients through estate planning and estate administration.

Stacey summered and articled at Aird & Berlis before returning as an associate.

Representative Matters

Acted for the Estate Trustees in a dependant’s support claim under the Succession Law Reform Act, with the court affirming an appropriate support arrangement balancing the testator’s intentions and statutory obligations in Anderson v. Andrew, 2023 ONSC 6643.

Acted for the Estate Trustees in successfully opposing a leave motion and securing a blended costs order confirming their entitlement to full indemnity for reasonably incurred legal costs in Cain v. Harnett, 2023 ONSC 1019 and 2023 ONSC 4124.

Acted for the court-appointed Litigation Guardian and Guardian for Property for an incapable person in successfully opposing a stay pending appeal and responding to review motions, with the court upholding the guardian’s appointment, rejecting any legal or evidentiary error and confirming that the incapable person is completely immunized from costs in Gefen v. Gefen, 2023 ONCA 29 and 2023 ONCA 287.
