Sara is a member of the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group. She advises on commercial, regulatory and administrative disputes, including shareholder litigation, contractual claims, professional negligence, defamation and fraud. Sara represents a wide variety of clients, ranging from sole proprietors and shareholders to public-sector bodies. She also acts for financial institutions and companies across industries such as real estate, technology and construction. Sara has expertise in various high-stakes disputes and urgent remedies, including Mareva orders and other extraordinary relief.
Sara has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, as well as before regulatory tribunals and in confidential commercial arbitrations.
Acted for the successful party in a complex commercial trial involving dueling oppression allegations and a buyout order.
Counsel to the successful appellant in an appeal concerning the correct statutory interpretation of Ontario’s Off-Road Vehicles Act.
Obtained extraordinary relief in the form of Anton Piller, Mareva and Norwich relief, and multiple certificates of pending litigation to address an ongoing fraud.
Brought a summary judgment on liability and damages for a commercial lease enforcement and obtained a substantial indemnity costs award.
Counsel for a company in an oppression arbitration. Secured an order for the buyout and removal of a director/shareholder for misconduct against the company, an award on behalf of the company for breach of fiduciary duty, punitive damages and substantial indemnity costs.
Counsel to a significant Ontario developer handling regulatory and civil litigation issues arising from a development project.
Counsel to healthcare professionals and complainants in administrative proceedings under the Regulated Health Professions Act.
Acted for co-owners of a closely held concrete business on an application for corporate oppression, fraud and misuse of company property, and successfully resisted the appointment of a receiver.
Resisted an injunction arising in the context of a contract dispute related to COVID-19 testing.
Secured a motion for summary judgment against a purchaser who failed to close on a property transaction.
Counsel on appeal to the Divisional Court involving the terms of a shotgun buy/sell agreement.
Counsel on a complex section 11(b) Charter application seeking stay of proceedings of securities fraud and theft over.
