Creating stronger career paths for women starts with looking at the systems that shape opportunity and advancement. Equitable system design can strengthen organizations by changing the rules, processes and supports that influence who receives opportunities and who can succeed. Across Canada and around the world, intentional changes in education, hiring, promotion and workplace practices have reduced barriers for women in sectors where entry and advancement have historically been limited, including science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), as well as law, finance and other fields.

Join us for this special moderated discussion with women leaders who understand the factors organizations must consider when designing equitable, merit-based workplace systems. Through practical examples with relevance across industries and professions, the discussion will show how leaders, employers, policy makers and professionals can identify barriers, improve decisions and design stronger systems that widen opportunities and expand talent pipelines for women. It will also consider how artificial intelligence can support more equitable and objective decision-making without reinforcing existing barriers.

Topics include:

  • What better-designed systems in STEM, law, finance and other fields can teach organizations about creating stronger pathways for women to enter, advance and lead
  • Why clear policies, sponsorship and transparent career paths matter for women’s advancement and organizational success
  • How leaders, employers and policy makers can identify barriers and create more equitable systems across different organizational and professional settings
  • How strong governance and inclusive design can help organizations use AI responsibly to support equity and merit
  • Practical steps organizations can take to measure progress, improve access to opportunities and expand talent pipelines for the next generation of women
