New Inspirational Startup Canada Podcast: Youth Entrepreneurship with Linda Manziaris

Posted in News

Startup Canada Podcast hosted Linda Manziaris, founder of Body Bijou, on December 1, 2015, to discuss the appeal of entrepreneurship for young people and provide tips on how to develop a startup while in school.

Toronto-based Manziaris started Body Bijou, an online handmade jewelry store, at the age of 13. The company quickly grew and she was the recipient of Startup Canada's 2014 Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Manziaris' business is especially noteworthy because of its social impact around the world.

50% of the company's profits go to help young girls in developing countries receive an education. To do so, Linda has partnered with her sister Susanna, who founded GirlsHelpingGirls. Together, the sisters have created over 25 scholarships for girls in developing countries, built three schools in Jamaica and provided teacher training in Afghanistan.

According to the now 15-year old Manziaris, the three most important secrets to startup success are: 1) Have grit. 2) Always say yes. And 3) Never take "no" for an answer.
