Canada's Angel Investment Networks Invested $90.5 Million in 2014

Posted in News

The National Angel Capital Organization (NACO) released its activity report, which found that 30 Angel groups nationwide combined to invest $90.5 million into startup companies, leveraging an additional $110.4 million in tied financing. Of the Angel-backed companies in the study, nine made positive exits (eight M&As and one IPO). Over 80% of investments were concentrated in the Information-Communication Technologies and Life Sciences fields, with cleantech a distant third. Of course, this doesn't capture all Canadian angel investment - only investments from Angels in certain recognized consortiums.  This shows that the Canadian investment climate for startups is as robust as ever.
