Hedge Fund Investment in VC-Backed Companies Stays Strong
As reported by PEHub, hedge and mutual funds are continuing to be strongly active in investments in the tech sector. The data (originally gathered by Thomson Reuters) tracks investment in venture-backed companies, suggesting that a strategy targeting VC investment should not exclude these institutional investors. So far, deal volume is ahead of last year's pace (although total deal value is lower, in part due to a slip in overseas dealflow). In Canada, hedge and mutual funds are joined by pension funds as key pillars for startup financing - and the data suggests this won't be changing anytime soon.
