Aird & Berlis Announces Five New Partners

Aird & Berlis is proud to announce that Fiona Brown, Patrick Copeland, Jacqueline (Jack) Goslett, Lorway Gosse and Kyle B. Plunkett have become partners of the firm.

Fiona Brown represents employers in the public, private, non-profit and charitable sectors across a range of industries and contexts, including technology, manufacturing, automotive, health and wellness, insurance, transportation, retail and marketing, among others. She also provides a broad range of services to participants in the fast-growing legal cannabis industry. Fiona takes great care in understanding her clients’ businesses and delivering advice that is tailored to meeting their specific needs. 

Patrick Copeland is a dedicated litigator. He has significant experience in all aspects of commercial litigation, including contractual disputes, shareholders’ disputes and class actions. Patrick has appeared at all levels of the Ontario courts and Federal Court as well as before various administrative tribunals. He recognizes the value of adopting practical and creative approaches to resolving even the most complex of disputes.

Jacqueline (Jack) Goslett provides clear, actionable guidance to her financial services clients, both lenders and borrowers. By drawing on her business background, Jack offers her clients pragmatic advice on how to best structure commercial loan transactions and how to evaluate and understand the associated legal and business risks. Jack acts as counsel for several domestic and foreign banks, venture capital/private equity funds and other institutional investors as well as borrowers across a variety of industries.

Lorway Gosse advises clients on corporate transactions, financings and commercial drafting. He acts for emerging and mid-sized privately-owned companies, as well as larger public companies across a variety of industries, including energy, infrastructure, finance, technology, manufacturing, human resources and wireless communications. Lorway passionately advocates for his clients’ interests, providing sound, proactive advice while assisting clients in navigating commercial realities and market requirements. 

Kyle B. Plunkett divides his time between commercial restructuring matters and M&A and financing work, developing a broad practice built on providing practical solutions to complex problems. With a diverse background, including time spent working in banking and finance, Kyle has the experience to provide clients guidance beyond the scope of traditional legal advice.
