Canada's Startup Women Leading the Way at Google for Entrepreneurs Demo Day

Posted in News

Bridgit, a Kitchener-based startup has been named the winner of a Google pitch competition in San Francisco aimed at companies led by women. Bridgit beat out over 450 other female-led startup applicants at the Google for Entrepreneurs Demo Day.

The company was founded by Mallorie Brodie and Lauren Walker, and provides a mobile and web communication platform for both residential and commercial construction teams. The idea originated by identifying the fact that large-scale building projects (sometimes with thousands of workers) should have a singular place to stay connected as work progresses.

Bridgit's model is subscription-based and is designed to improve efficiency on construction sites.

While there was no cash award, the recognition and press attention at Google for Entrepreneurs Demo Day will provide the Bridgit co-founders a great platform to expand their business further from Toronto to other construction-heavy cities around the world. Expansion to New York is already underway.
