Christie's practice incorporates all aspects of commercial real estate, including acquisitions, dispositions, restructurings, leasing, construction and development work, and has a particular focus on financings.
Christie spent three years as Senior Counsel - Real Estate at one of Canada's major financial institutions where she was the lawyer responsible for all real estate-related matters for the bank and its subsidiaries and had carriage of all legal matters with respect to the bank's commercial and residential mortgage portfolios. Her responsibilities included the creation and maintenance of the bank's standard form financing documentation, supervision of legal matters relating to new mortgage product initiatives, the sale of bank-owned properties, leasing issues, outsourcing agreements, title insurance matters, the bank's mortgage broker channel and all regulatory and compliance issues relating to mortgage operations. She also advised on sophisticated commercial real estate transactions involving the bank. Christie practised in the real estate department of another major Toronto law firm from 1995 to 1998 and at Aird & Berlis LLP from 1998 to 2001 and from 2004 to present.
