Howard has a broad based commercial litigation practice covering a wide range of business issues, including income tax matters at all stages of dispute, from audit to appeals. He regularly appears before all levels of court, and his cases are widely reported.
Howard specializes in the areas of media and defamation law, reputation management and income tax litigation. Prior to entering private practice in 1986, Howard served as Counsel in the Civil Tax Litigation section of the Department of Justice and from 1988 to 1991 he was a member of the Minister of Revenue's Advisory Council on Tax Administration. As part of his media law practice, Howard acts as counsel to both plaintiffs and defendants. For media clients this includes the pre-screening of material prior to broadcast or publication and dealing with issues related to publication bans and access to the courts.
