Corrine Kennedy

Partner Admitted to the Ontario Bar: 2007

Corrine’s practice is built on her desire to listen, learn, and thoroughly understand the issues at hand. Her keen critical thinking skills provide a more thoughtful approach to identifying strategic solutions to her clients’ legal issues. Having been seconded to the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) in 2014-2015, Corrine has a unique perspective into the inner-workings of in-house counsel. This insight helps her to meet her clients’ needs and get them where they need to go as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible.

She is a member of the Corporate/Commercial Group and the Energy Team. Corrine works with clients on an array of corporate and commercial matters, mergers and acquisitions, and energy related matters. She advises on the negotiation, administration, interpretation and dispute resolution of various kinds of contracts, share and asset purchase agreements and commercial contracts. She also advises on corporate governance matters.

Corrine’s extensive experience in the energy sector includes transactions related to requests for proposals and contracts for procurement of electricity generation facilities, power purchase agreements and capacity contracts, as well as the sale of local electricity distribution companies (LDCs). She has also advised LDC clients on the negotiation and development of service provider agreements under the IESO’s Conservation First Framework.

Corrine serves as the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Partner, appointed in 2016. She is responsible for developing and implementing firm strategies around diversity and inclusion initiatives and acts as a resource and advocate for lawyers and staff in respect of diversity and inclusion issues. She is the firm’s co-representative, along with the Director of Student and Associate Programs, to the Law Firm Diversity and Inclusion Network.
