Carol takes a thorough and well-researched approach to providing clients tax advice that is tailored to their specific situation and needs. She is committed to staying up to date with the latest developments in tax rules and regulations. A diligent approach enables Carol to solve complex issues and develop structures that are most advantageous to her clients.

Carol serves as Co-Practice Group Leader of the firm’s Tax Group and is a member of the Charities & Not-for-Profits, Investment Management & Registration, and Mines & Minerals Groups. Her practice is focused on income tax with emphasis on corporate taxation. Her areas of specialty include debt forgiveness, deferred plans, employee compensation, divisive reorganization, mutual funds and real estate investment trusts. 

Carol also has expertise with respect to mining tax, including flow-through shares. She is an officer of PDAC Mining Matters, a mining education charity, and has worked closely with the organization for more than 20 years.

She is a contributor to Tax Profile, TaxLine (a monthly newsletter that examines a wide variety of current tax issues of interest) and Canadian Tax Highlights.

Prior to joining the firm, Carol worked in the tax department of a major Canadian accounting firm.
