Angela Swan is counsel to the firm as well as a member of the Corporate/Commercial Group and the Legal Education Department. She was previously a partner at our firm and an associate at a national firm in Montreal.

PracticeAngela's practice focuses on supporting lawyers with respect to research and opinions. She is particularly experienced in contract law and statutory interpretation and consults with members of the firm on many legal issues, including corporate transactions and civil and commercial litigation. Angela stays involved with the firm's practice groups in order to provide topical information on recent case law. She believes in a practical approach to resolving legal questions and in ongoing legal education. Angela is a well-published author of a number of papers, reviews, books, case comments and annotations in regards to matters such as contract law, civil litigation and conflict of laws. She is frequently retained by other law firms as an expert witness in connection with matters pertaining to the law in Ontario.


Special Designations

Angela's book, Canadian Contract Law, LexisNexis Butterworths, 2006, was awarded the Walter Owen Book Prize (2007). The Walter Owen Book Prize is awarded by the Foundation for Legal Research of the Canadian Bar Association to recognize excellent legal writing and to reward outstanding new contributions to Canadian legal literature that enhance the quality of legal research in Canada. Angela’s text is now in its second edition.

Received the highest rating (AV) for legal ability as well as an extremely high adherence to the professional standards of conduct, ethics, reliability and diligence by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory

Named to the 2010 Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers for earning the highest level of professional skill and integrity in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory
