This month, we are having only ONE, two-hour session and are bringing in Seth Entin from Greenberg Traurig LLP in Miami, a popular speaker on this topic, to present with Barbara Worndl. Investing in U.S. Real Estate
Including rental properties, development projects and residential

The seminar will review tax effective structures and traps. The use of Canadian and U.S. vehicles will be examined, issues including FAPI: interest, withholding and deductibility, Estate Tax, partnership issues (at risk, passive loss, basis), LLC traps, net election, like kind exchanges, refinancing and FIRPTA will be considered. An update on purchasing U.S. homes.
 
Non-Residents Investing in Canadian Real Estate

The use of non-resident entities to own rental properties. The 216 net election, 116 clearance certificates, withholding tax and interest deductibility will be considered.
